When I first got my Xbox and PlayStation counsels I noticed that USB and got really excited to see what we could do with them and this is what I’ve found out.
You can use your Xbox controller on your regular PC, Here are the instructions *Keep in mind this is only for wired controllers*
- Plug in your controller. If you have a regular Xbox controller, attach it at a standard USB port. If you’re using a wireless controller, purchase an Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver for Windows (you can find used pieces on sites like Amazon or eBay).
- Download the drivers. You might be prompted to update and install your drivers as soon as you plug in the controllers. If not, though, the drivers you’ll need are available at Microsoft’s website. Click here for the regular controller and here for the wireless controller.
- Configure the controller. Check the game’s manual to see if it already supports an Xbox controller. If not, you’ll have to configure the controls.
- Figure out which keyboard/mouse buttons you use for the game. Write them down if you don’t have them memorized.
- Find the game’s options menu.
- Click “Controls” or “Configure,” or some variation of that.
- Reset the controls by pressing the button you want to map on your Xbox controller as you scroll through each option.
Tips
- You can download programs that will automatically map the controls for you. GlovePIE is a free option.
- Don’t expect your Xbox 360 controller to rumble. Most older games don’t support this.
